On Snapchat, if they announce a certain event will be beamed live on the social network, people can add these colourful overlays about the event (called Geofilters) on the snap you took which is now picked up by the live feed and beamed to the world. It is a unique feature on Snapchat and it is a unique way of livestreaming by combining all these videos and pictures with the specific Geotag so that people from other parts of the world can view the event live.
From the few snaps that I’ve watched on the live feed, I’ve noticed a lot of the celebrations are from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, UAE and surprisingly Indonesia. Most of the snaps are people in mosques or engaging in a feast signaling the end of the holy month of Ramadan as per the Islamic calendar.
On Instagram, if you search using the #EidMubarak hashtag, you can now see the top posts and the most recent photos are being uploaded that bear the hashtag. This is thanks to the new update Instagram released earlier which makes tracking these posts easier.
